Iron Chefs prove they're Army strong

The following is a news release from Fort Huachuca:

At Fort Huachuca, our Iron Chefs wear combat boots.

A 92G (ninety-two golf) food service specialist is responsible for the preparation and service of food in field or garrison food service operations, preparing food to Army and dietetic standards, as well as ordering and inspecting food supplies and preparing meats for cooking.

Sounds like what you do at home?  Not quite.

The City of Sierra Vista’s third annual Spotlight Breakfast is scheduled for Tuesday, August 9, 7:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Windemere Hotel and Conference Center. 

This event is open to the public, but seating is limited, so don’t delay in making your reservation. This event is an opportunity to learn about the City’s recent accomplishments, priorities, and plans for the future. 

Police hold fundraiser for Special Olympics

The Sierra Vista Police Department in conjunction with the Outback Steakhouse and 2012 Miss Sierra Vista Contestants are hosting a fundraising luncheon to benefit Special Olympics. Lunch is a “Build Your Own Salad” with beef, chicken, or shrimp for a donation cost of $20.00 (100% of the donations will benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics).

Late night fight breaks out at local Applebees

According to Sierra Vista Police, there was an incident of disorderly conduct at the Applebee’s located at 3899 El Mercado Loop on Monday.

At about 11:33pm, three individuals got into an altercation. The Sierra Vista Herald is reporting that the three individuals involved were firefighters, who were being honored earlier that night at a private dinner.

Nick's Place owner loses more than just a bar

The owner of Nick’s Place Jessye Nuding  worries that she lost more than just her business in the Monument Fire.

“It has devastated so much,” Nuding said, “it tore everything apart. It just ripped up our lives.”

Her bar was insured, but that only covers the mortgage. She does not have the money to rebuild.

Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Incident at Famous Sam's

The following is a news release from the Sierra Vista Police Department:

Dustin T. Boston, 28, was arrested for two counts of Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Aggravated Assault, and two counts of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, after police responded to the report of an altercation at Famous Sam’s, 2239 E. Fry Blvd. 

At 2:00 a.m., officer’s received a 911 call reporting that a male suspect was in the parking lot at Famous Sam’s threatening to shoot someone.  Boston brandished a handgun toward two men he did not know, and threatened to shoot them, discharging the handgun two times.
