The Southeast Arizona Association of Realtors presented a Homeownership Fair Saturday at the Sierra Vista Mall.

Over forty vendors from realtors to mortgage companies participated in the four hour fair. The fair also featured half hour classes on homeownership and the buying process.

Home repair money availabe for low-income residents

The City of Sierra Vista working together with the Southeastern Arizona Governments Organization (SEAGO) successfully secured a competitive grant to provide low-income residents with home rehabilitation.

City pursues residential rehab grant for low-income residents

The City of Sierra Vista and the Southeastern Arizona Governments Organization (SEAGO) are working together on a competitive grant application. 

If awarded, the grant will provide home rehabilitation for low-income Sierra Vista residents. To be considered, residents must meet HUD low-income standards as well as own and reside in their home.

Inevitably everyone who owns property has to pay property taxes.  This in turn pays for services like education, crime prevention and fire protection to the community.  But not everyone knows or understands the complex processes behind their tax bill. 

The City has created a video to help take some of the mystery out of your annual property tax bill.

Sierra Vista Police found 200 bales of marijuana in a semi truck carrying cattle and were able to take down a ranch containing 200 more bales with the information received, according to a news release. 

On Nov. 10, a K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop on a semi truck on Highway 90 north of Highway 82. 

Army changes have Sierra Vista housing providers concerned

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (KOLD) – Temporary housing for officers and soldiers on training at Fort Huachuca ranges beyond hotels in Sierra Vista to actual houses.  But owners worry the Army's changes could be hard on soldiers' families and slam the door on their business.

"My intent was to provide quality housing and accommodations for soldiers because I was one," said Edwin K. Morris, who owns a home in Sierra Vista that he rents to soldiers on temporary duty, or TDY.
