Happy Thanksgiving!  City Council and commission meetings in Sierra Vista this week.  Plus closures and trash collection updates for holiday weekend.

City Council

City Council Special Meeting and Work Session - November 19, 3 p.m.
City Hall, City Manager’s Conference Room

Agenda items include canvass of general election and authorization to apply for rural public transportation and bus system grant funding for fiscal year 2013/2014.

Note: Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the second City Council Meeting to be held on Thursday, November 22 has been cancelled.  A Special City Council meeting will be held on Monday, November 19 before the regularly scheduled City Council Work Session.

The regularly scheduled meeting has been changed from Monday, November 19 to Monday, November 26 at 5:30 p.m. Agenda items include Cananea outreach, update on student exchange program, and fundraisers for commission activities.

Thanksgiving Closures and Holiday Trash Schedule - November 22 and 23

On Wednesday, November 21, the Sierra Vista Public Library will close early at 5 p.m.  All City facilities will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23 in recognition of the Thanksgiving Holiday. 

During the holiday week, Monday/Thursday refuse customers will have their trash picked up on Monday, November 19 and recycling picked up on Wednesday, November 21.  

City Compost facility, located at 7201 E. Highway 90, will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23.  The facility will open on Saturday, November 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.   

Tuesday/Friday refuse customers will not be impacted by the holiday with trash pickup on Tuesday, November 20 and recycling picked up on Friday, November 23.

There will be no special pick up services on Wednesday, November 21.

Transit buses will not operate on Thursday, November 22.  Normal operation will resume on Friday; however, there will be no curbside service that day.

The Cove is closed for maintenance and will reopen on Monday, November 26.
