Starting Monday Avenida del Sol improvement project | News

Starting Monday portions of Avenida del Sol will be closed for street maintenance, an annual happening. This closure is due to the first part of improvements that involve the complete removal and replacement of existing pavement on Avenida del Sol.

Drivers that use Avenida del Sol as a 'through' street will be detoured to SR 92 as an alternate.  Local traffice from Mesa Verde and Desert Shadows subdivisions will be detoured to Colonia De Salud as their alternate.

The city and construction crews anticipate the closure of Avenida del Sol to last only two weeks, but say this is a tenative time frame, as work crews depend on material availability and weather conditions.  The project could possibly take longer if either of the above happen. 

Drivers are reminded to obey the speed limit of 25 miles per hour, as the detour routes are through residential areas.  And also to be aware and cautious as there may be children present (and playing) around these detour routes during the summer months.
