Safety improvements planned for SR 90 in Sierra Vista | News
The Arizona Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, recently released improvement plans addressing traffic safety issues on State Route 90, between the intersections of State Route 90 and Avenida del Sol. This stretch of highway was responsible for four fatal car/pedestrian accidents in approximately a two-year time span.
The proposed work, tentatively scheduled for June 2014, will include installation of street lights along both sides of the road, construction of curb and gutter where needed, putting in a multi-use path on the north side of the road, driveway improvements as needed, the installation of a pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of State Route 90 and Rainbow Way, and updating the striping on the roadway to conform with the new pedestrian crosswalk.
The project is estimated to take four months to complete.
