I-10 traffic switch southeast of Tucson scheduled for Sunday night | News
Starting Sunday night drivers traveling on eastbound I-10 will be encountering lane restrictions, while the Arizona Department of Transportation switches eastbound traffic onto newly constructed lanes.
Lane restrictions are as follows:
- Eastbound I-10 narrowed to one lane between Cienega Creek Bridge and Marsh Station Road from 6 p.m. June 2 to 5 a.m. June 3 while eastbound traffic is switched over to the newly constructed lanes.
- Westbound I-10 narrowed to one lane between the new Marsh Station traffic interchange and Cienega Creek from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 3 through the morning of June 7 to construct a median cross over for westbound I-10.
Drivers should expect delays and plan accordingly, by adding extra travel time if possible. ADOT is also advising drivers to proceed with caution through the work area, to obey posted speed limit signs as well as be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
Drivers should also be aware of an additional ADOT traffic switch, which is scheduled for mid-June. This second traffic switch will allow ADOT to ‘construct the new alignment of westbound I-10 on the north side of the existing interstate.’
This work is part of a $17.2 million project to separate the east and westbound lanes of I-10 within a two mile segment between Tucson and Benson, by building new alignments in both directions.
