Two Schools Likely to Remain Open for Another Year

Two elementary schools in Sierra Vista will likely remain open for at least another year.

Superintendent Brett Agenbroad has held several meetings to discuss shutting down either Town and Country Elementary School or Village Meadows Elementary School.

The district was considering closing one school and using that money to bring back specialists like art and music teachers.

But at a meeting Tuesday night, Agenbroad surprised parents by recommending to the Governing Board to keep both schools open and extend the school day by 30 minutes.

The Governing Board still has to vote on his recommendation.
