Local tourism opportunity: Breakfast in the Community Garden | Events
Did you know that Sierra Vista has a community garden? Not many people do, which is why you’re invited to view the gardens and enjoy a free breakfast on Saturday, August 31, at 8 a.m. at the Sierra Vista Community Garden, 300 E. Wilcox Dr.
The 2nd Annual Breakfast in the Garden is an opportunity to sample fresh locally grown produce and learn more about the Community Garden.
Taking roots in 2011, the Sierra Vista Community Garden Inc., a local non-profit, started with members of the local gardening community who shared a passion to share their knowledge about gardening and offer residents a healthier lifestyle growing fresh fruits and vegetables.
For a small monthly fee ($15 for a bed or $10 for a tower), anyone can start their own garden benefiting from an experience community of gardeners. The garden is ideal for anyone who wants to learn, doesn’t have room, and can't always be around when the garden needs water.
For information and directions, call the Sierra Vista Visitor Center at 417-6960 or stop by the Visitor Center in the Oscar Yrun Community Center, 3020 E. Tacoma Street.
