Explosions may be heard on Ft. Huachuca Friday, but it should be no cause for alarm, officials said.
An explosive ordinance disposal team from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson will dispose of the dynamite, which is located inside a K-9 scent kit, Ft. Huachuca Media Relations Officer Tanja M. Linton said.
The detonation will take place behind the Fort's Ammunition Supply Point at approximately 9:30 a.m., Linton said.
Some of the explosives are extremely crystallized, Linton said. The kit cannot be moved because of the dynamite's instability.
Linton warns that people in the nearby area including the Old Post and Bonnie Blink Housing Area may hear the explosion.
