Fort Huachuca increases fire danger to 'extreme'

Ft. Huachuca, working with the Sierra Vista District of the Coronado National Forest, has changed the status of their fire danger to 'extreme'.

This means for the public that all canyons and forests located on Ft. Huachuca are closed.  The Fort will monitor the fire danger and once conditions have improved will reopen the canyons and forests.

The Fort would also like to remind residents on base to take the following precautions:

  • Do not park vehicles in grassy areas, due to heat created from the engine.
  • Fireworks - the sale, possession or use of on base is prohibited.
  • Garrison Command Policy 19 - requires that all lit cigarettes/cigars be properly extinguished and discarded in an enclosed receptacle.  Discarding lit cigarettes/cigars out of a vehicle is prohibited as well.
