6th Annual U Rock! Awards | Community Spirit
The City’s Tourism Commission is pleased to announce the 6th Annual U Rock! Award Ceremony and invites the public to nominate an individual who “rocks” Sierra Vista. These prestigious awards honor individual employees in the local tourism industry for excellent customer service, unending hospitality and gracious demeanor as they greet our visitors and travelers. These employees actively assist visitors with advice on dining, lodging, and where-to-go and what-to-see in our city.
“Employees who work in the tourism industry are generally the first people that visitors have contact with in any given city or town. This also means that these employees are the “face” of that city or town and create that first impression or image that the visitor will carry with him or her,” said Terry, “T-Bone”, Kimbley, Chair, Tourism Commission. “And having seen many of Sierra Vista’s tourism industry employees performing their jobs, I’m proud of them, as we all should be, and proud that they are the “face” of Sierra Vista.”
The deadline for nominations is April 30, 2012. Individuals may be nominated for Front Line or Behind-the-Scenes in the following categories:
- local attractions
The winners will be announced and the awards presented at the 6th Annual U Rock! Award Ceremony on May 20 at The Mall at Sierra Vista.
There is no limit on nominations; however, one individual per nomination form is requested. Both residents and visitors are encouraged to nominate by completing the short ballot found at participating restaurants, hotels, and visitor attractions; online at www.VisitSierraVista.com; or by picking up a ballot at the Sierra Vista Visitor Center, located inside the Oscar Yrun Community Center, 3020 E. Tacoma Street.
The U Rock! awards are designed to recognize those in the tourism industry, such as exceptional servers, housekeepers, front-desk representatives, guides, volunteers and others who provide great service every day to visitors and residents. It’s the community’s turn to thank and credit these employees.
