Sierra Vista pawn shop owner charged with 42 violations | Business
In March, the Sierra Vista Police Department received information that alluded to illegal pawn shop practices at SCR Pawnshop Cash Advance, 149 W. Fry Blvd. Detectives from the Sierra Vista Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit investigated the claims and found that the pawnshop failed to properly fill out pawn tickets, providing serial numbers, time of the transactions, and detailed descriptions of the items being pawned.
After obtaining a search warrant, detectives searched the shop selecting 25 random items and their corresponding documents. Detectives found 42 violations including 5 missing or unaccounted for Pawn Tickets; 15 documents missing required thumb/fingerprints; 10 unrecorded /incorrectly recorded serial numbers; 2 invalid descriptions of sold items; 1 document missing seller’s birth date; and 9 documents missing ticket numbers, all which are mandatory by State law for pawn shops . After obtaining a summons of all charges, detectives charged pawn shop owner Sakkapun Pramoj Na-Ayudhya on May 1.
Sierra Vista Police will continue to inspect local pawn shops on a regular basis. Detectives from the Property Crimes Unit are willing to meet with pawnshop owners to discuss State law requirements.
